Potter Cup 2010

The 38th Potter Cup for men of 45 years and over was held at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona from 27 to 30 May 2010.

This competition started when the American John Potter who actually lived in Barcelona and Biarritz organised the first event between France, Great Britain, Spain and the US in 1973. Since 1979 the match is being played each year in the beautiful Polo Club of Barcelona and is open to all 38 International Lawn Tennis Clubs (ICs) affiliated to the IC Council.

Members of the ICs are players who have represented their country in international matches and many well known names figure amongst them such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal of today’s players.

This year’s event was won convincingly by the IC of Italy who overcame last year’s winners Spain by 5-2 in the semi-finals and France 4-1 in the finals. France had beaten 2008 winners Great Britain in a very close match by 4-3 and Spain beat Great Britain for third place by 4-1.
